Sharp's AQUOS BD-HP1 Blu-ray HD recorder (32 diggs)

The Blu-ray Disc camping-ground just unrolled another: the BD-HP1 AQUOS hi-vision recorder from Sharp. Yes, it records, to choose-layer (only) BD-R/RE in MPEG-2 format with AAC audio for about 2-hours and 10-minutes of 1080p video at 24Mbps. Of obviously, it will also playback DVD?R/RW and DVD-RAM discs as well.

-Sharp is present to put select Internet content on some models of its TVs, the latest try by TV makers to cut out the PC. The Aquos Net service, which kicks off later this month, will let viewers click a handle on their remote and get Nasdaq stock quotes, local seedy information, high-definition images, traffic intelligence from Traffic.com
